Residency program granted continued accreditation

The Internal Medicine Residency Program, Northeast Georgia's first medical residency program and a joint effort by the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership and St. Mary's Health Care System, has been granted continued accreditation, the highest status possible, by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

3/18/16 — For the second year in its two-year history, the Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Mary's has filled all 10 openings for its new class of medical residents. The new residents will join the 10 new physicians who began providing care at St. Mary's last year as Northeast Georgia's first-ever medical residents.

Athens, Ga. – The Internal Medicine Residency Program, a joint effort of the Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership and St. Mary’s Health Care System, received accreditation on Jan. 28 in the final step towards becoming Athens’ first medical residency program.

Site Visit Completed for Residency Program

Athens, Ga. – In a major step toward developing Athens’ first medical residency program, Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership and St. Mary’s Health Care System’s Internal Medicine Program underwent a site visit on Wednesday, Oct. 23, by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The site survey occurred at St. Mary’s Hospital, the Major Participating Site for the new Internal Medicine program.

Residency Program 2 Steps Closer

St. Mary’s Health Care System and the Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership recently completed two major steps toward the creation of an Internal Medicine residency program at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Residency Program Gains GRU/UGA Sponsorship

St. Mary’s internal medicine residency program has taken a major step closer to becoming reality: The Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia (GRU/UGA) Medical Partnership has formally filed with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education to be the residency program’s sponsoring institution.

St. Mary’s to Pursue Medical Residencies

The Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Health Care System has approved the recommendation of St. Mary’s leadership to begin working toward creating a graduate medical education (GME) program – residencies – in conjunction with the Georgia Health Sciences University/University of Georgia Partnership Medical School in Athens.
