CME/Grand Rounds

St. Mary’s Health Care Continuing Medical Education accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. Our program offers a series experienced speakers invited from within the AU/UGA Medical Partnership, Athens community and from around the world. The CME Grand Rounds Lunch and Learn events take place on Thursday’s at 12 p.m. January – May, and August – October. For a detailed listing, please see the CME/Grand Rounds Calendar. Physicians, Faculty, residents, medical students, and staff are all invited/encouraged to attend.

CME/Grand Rounds developed are based on evidenced based practices. Physicians are recognized as adult learners who actively participate in the learning process and take personal initiative for meeting their educational needs. These educational activities provide value to physicians by helping to uncover, measure, and address important knowledge, competence, and performance based gaps in practice. Our CME events meet established standards for Category 1 CME accreditation. Physicians earn credits for individual achievement, speciality, society requirements, and recertification to meet Joint Commission standards or departmental recommendations.

The CME/Grand Rounds events provide physicians with a mode for interaction to share ideas and experiences. The intended result of the comprehensive CME program is to enable physicians to achieve and maintain knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide patient care at optimum levels. CME learning activities are linked to practice-based needs. Changes in physician competence, performance, and or patient outcomes will be measured and shared with the CME Committee for evaluation and follow up of further learning opportunities. The CME Committee reports achieved results to the Medical Executive Committee and Senior Leadership Team.
